The Regional Electronics Initiative (REI) is a network of social enterprises across Yorkshire & the Humber involved in computer reuse. REI members provide high quality, used IT equipment to individuals and organisations which find it hard to afford new items. IT reuse organisations play a key role in providing social support and diverting hazardous items from the tip.

Second Byte IT is a member of the REI, collecting equipment from businesses in the North and NE Lincs areas, south of the Humber. Its work allows long-term unemployed and socially excluded individuals to gain work experience and receive accredited training in very marketable skills.

Working to an agreed Code of Conduct (available on request) Second Byte IT guarantees:

  • certified removal of all data
  • a not-for-profit promise
  • full audit trail
  • proper safety checks
  • refurbished and guaranteed equipment is made available as a priority to
  • educational establishments, community groups and charities, local businesses and low income families
  • retail outlet for new or refurbished IT equipment including repairs
