Welcome to the first directory of community waste groups in Yorkshire & the Humber, compiled by the Community Waste Network in the Region. These organisations provide an impressive array of services for households, businesses, schools and public bodies, often under difficult circumstances. Not only are they leading the way in devising more sustainable ways of reducing the waste ending up in landfill sites, they are also delivering many important social, economic and environmental benefits directly into local communities.

As well as listing groups in the community sector, the Directory provides other key contacts supporting reduction, reuse, recycling and composting of waste.

The Community Waste Network Yorkshire & the Humber was established in 2005 to support and represent community waste organisations. In the first year we have –

• Launched a regional education network with meetings in Leeds and Sheffield
• Helped develop clusters of community organisations in Leeds, Doncaster, NE Lincs and York
  
• Worked with furniture services aiming to develop bulky waste services with 7 local authorities
  
• Produced a promotional folder for regional businesses on the benefits of the community waste sector
