To be released immediately: 17TH January 2000

COMMUNITY WASTE GOES GLOBAL WITH INTERNET LAUNCH

The Community Recycling Network is set to relaunch its website. The new, improved, internet service will provide a worldwide window on the activities of the CRN and the community waste sector in the UK.

The website - www.crn.org.uk - will be up and running on Monday, January 24.

It features information about the organisation and community-based sustainable waste management and will be updated regularly. Members are spotlighted and there are interesting case studies featured. There will be a diary of events, past and current press releases and the latest news from the CRN's flagship publication, The Waste Paper. The re-launch of the website will make CRN's service to its members even more efficient.

The work of the CRN, the publications it produces, news of current research and useful links are likely to be among the most visited features. And to launch the site the CRN is holding a competition with top prizes - details on the website.

Andy Moore, the CRN coordinator, said: "The empowerment of communities to take responsibility for their waste stream is fundamental to sustainability on a global level.

"We are proud, therefore, to be going global and hope that via our new website the contribution of the UK to community waste management will be there for all to see."

Bristol-based design company 2md designed the website.
