Councillor Neil Swannick will chair the debate.
On Friday the CRN Conference will be geared towards local authorities with presentations from the community sector and local authority members. The Local Authority Day will be a unique opportunity for local authorities to forge new partnerships with the community sector. Information will be exchanged on Best Practice Models, Beacon Council Partnerships, Best Value and Market Development. The CRN will also be holding its first exhibition.
Andy Moore, the CRN's Co-ordinator, says: "Things are moving fast in waste management. This is especially true in the waste management which takes place within the social economy. The most exciting aspect of this change and recent innovations will be revealed and discussed at this conference. It is the place to be if you want to be in the know."
Speakers from Australia, Greece and New Zealand will also be bringing an international perspective to the Conference.
Gerard Gillespie from Australia will tell the Conference about the success of Zero Waste policies in Australia and New Zealand and Florian Ermacora from the European Commission will tell delegates about the WEEE Directive and the European social economy. Matthew Pumphrey from Orrtec is also lined up to talk about lessons learnt from composting in the Antipodes, while Polina Gioka from The Ecological Recycling Society will make a presentation on community waste activity in Athens.
There will be more than 20 workshops ranging from management training for the sector to market development and waste exchanges.
