MEACHER SPEAKS AT COMMUNITY RECYCLING CONFERENCE
Environment minister Michael Meacher will be the key speaker at 2001 - A Waste Odyssey, this year's Community Recycling Network (CRN) conference. He will be speaking about the role of the community sector in delivering the waste strategy.
The 12th annual conference is being held in Bristol for the first time and will be a major opportunity to showcase community recycling in Britain. International speakers from the United States, Australia and Europe have also been lined up to give a global perspective on sustainable waste management.
"We are delighted that the minister will be addressing the conference to spell out the government's strategy on boosting community sector recycling initiatives. The minister's address will be both timely and extremely welcome," says Christie Anthoney, Events Coordinator for the CRN.
The conference is being held at the Thistle Hotel in Bristol, May 17- 19 and will feature a two-day exhibition and trade show. There will be a day for local authorities, sessions on community finance, new funding for the recycling sector and market development.
