PRESS RELEASE
June 19 2003 CRN/AN/PR41To be released immediately
THE COMMUNITY RECYCLING NETWORK WELCOMES MINISTER'S APPOINTMENT
The Community Recycling Network hopes that Elliot Morley MP will show the same level of commitment and knowledge of environmental issues, and waste in particular, as his predecessor Michael Meacher did, when he takes up the post of minister of state for the environment.
Mr Morley has previously worked with Waste Watch on waste issues.
Andy Moore, Co-ordinator of the Community Recycling Network, says: "I am very pleased to welcome Elliot Morley to an important post in DEFRA. I am very glad the Prime Minister has appointed someone who is not a complete waste rookie.
"On the resignation of Michael Meacher though, I have always felt he was a very good environment minister. While we have not always agreed with everything he said he has always demonstrated a sound knowledge of the issues and a commitment to the environment. I hope his knowledge of waste will not be lost and his voice will be often heard from the backbenches."
