Suppliers of recycled computer equipment

Due to the nature of the business, prices and specifications of computers will vary, possibly on a daily basis. Issue date of this is 28/11/ 2002.

Computers for Charity

Offers recycled computer systems to charitable institutions, voluntary organisations, educational establishments and individuals in training or on benefits as well as the developing countries. All systems are guaranteed and with lifetime telephone support.

Recycle-IT offer 3 books to assist their customers.

These are normally £5 each but currently available at £10 for the 3.

Recycle-IT supply computers mainly to charity/non-profit/educational organisations and to some individuals (including elderly, those in education, etc). Please enquire direct for more information here.

 

PC solutions
PC Solutions are a commercial organisation, but are happy to waive their normal "1 pallet minimum" quantity for sale to CRN members (or most charity/not for profit type organisations), so have been included here. They specialise in selling hardware only (no installation/backup or software etc) so not recommended for people/organisations with limited knowledge, but attractive prices mean good deals for those with necessary knowledge and skills…
They can offer a "system build" service but will charge a commercial rate for this. They also have some software for sale at times - availability here changes daily: please check direct with them for information. Sell all second hand computer equipment but it is all sold clean (i.e. without software of any kind other than a C:\ prompt.

A form is available on-line via their website at www.dixons-group-plc.co.uk - go to "Community and Environment" then "Dixons in the Community" and "Apply for Support" (or request hard copy via CRN).

ICER - Industry Council For Electronic Equipment Recycling The ICER 2002 Directory of Recyclers lists WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive recyclers and refurbishers. It gives details of where they are, what products they handle and the services they offer. Recyclers listed here may be able to help with providing recycled computing equipment.
