They have now also trained 6 people on the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Environmental Awareness Course, and hope to offer this course soon at a discounted rate to the community sector.

Resource Saver thank all groups that have helped with receiving goods and hope to be able to beat last quarters outputs by assisting them even more.  So if you need to update them with what's going on with your organisation please let Gemma know.

SOUTH WEST

The national regional programme funded by Defra came to an end this year and there has been a great deal of work on finding continuation funding for the work that has been going on in the South West over the past two and a half years. At this stage it is necessary to cut back on the services organisations receive whilst this search continues. The CRN UK will be providing a peer exchange email address to allow SW CWN members to share information directly with other groups within the region.

The Community Waste Network South West steering group will continue to meet and feed back important information to this peer network.

YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER

An exciting project came to fruition this month on the streets of Sheffield. Space Of Waste, coordinated by Bradford Environmental Action Trust, is a construction which drew on the ingenuity and vision of the region's architects, engineers, builders and designers. The project showed that one person's waste is another person's resource and that through resourceful architecture a waste of space can become a Space Of Waste.

Both exteriors and interiors of the building were designed and constructed from material sourced through Why Waste waste exchange http://www.whywaste.org.uk/ a free online service for businesses and community organisations in Yorkshire and Humber. The finished project was on display in Tudor Square in Sheffield City Centre from 12 to 19 November.  More information, pictures and a time-lapse film of the construction are on the BEAT website – http://www.beat.org.uk/bm/why_waste/space_of_waste/ or contact: Dan McTiernan at BEAT - 01274 718420.
