NORTH WEST
The Sharing Resources project is set to take off after Christmas. This is a programme of tailored business development support to community waste organisations who wish to start, or expand collection services to businesses. Most of the organisations who expressed an interest will have been contacted for more detail by now. If you have not and would like to explore the ever expanding potential that is the commercial waste stream, please do call the North West Office.
Have a good Christmas.

SOUTH WEST
The national regional programme funded by Defra came to an end this year and there has been a great deal of work on finding continuation funding for the work that has been going on in the South West over the past two and a half years. At this stage it is necessary to cut back on the services organisations receive whilst this search continues. The CRN UK will be providing a peer exchange email address to allow SW CWN members to share information directly with other groups within the region.
The Community Waste Network South West steering group will continue to meet and feed back important information to this peer network.

YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER
The regional team has recently presented a report to a housing association in Grimsby about a new development in the town which provides lots of opportunity for community sector involvement. The association is redeveloping a housing estate over a number of years and this will not only create lots of waste and material arisings but will disrupt the lives of hundreds of local residents. The report stresses that several community waste organisations active in NE Lincolnshire are delivering key services to residents in deprived parts of the area, and should become key partners in the development programme. The housing partnership is keen to explore how to strengthen links with existing 3Rs organisations and establish new projects to fill gaps. This comes at a time when work is being done to forge links between furniture services and the housing sector and a national network of Building Material Resource Centres is being established by BioRegional.
Please contact the Yorkshire & Humber team to share your experiences of working with the public housing sector.
