EASTERN REGION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NORTH WEST Happy New Year to everyone from Ian in the North West office. Ian urges any member who has previously stated or secretly harbours a desire to deliver a business waste collection service, to contact the NW office for some free support and advice on how to go about it. There is the offer of free business and marketing support to all Community Waste Sector organisations, but time is short! There are a couple of interesting conferences coming up. A Sustainable Waste Management Conference is being held by GONW on 4 February at Old Trafford - Cricket Ground. On 5 February at Woodlands Conference Centre in Chorley, North West Recycling Forum have invited Community Waste organisations to participate in a conference on the Source Segregation vs Co-mingled debate. Called ’To Sort or not to Sort’. Contact: Ian Scott ian@crn.org.uk 0161 273 6976 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SOUTH WEST The national regional programme funded by Defra came to an end this year and there has been a great deal of work on finding continuation funding for the work that has been going on in the South West over the past two and a half years. At this stage it is necessary to cut back on the services organisations receive whilst this search continues. The CRN UK will be providing a peer exchange email address to allow SW CWN members to share information directly with other groups within the region. The Community Waste Network South West steering group will continue to meet and feed back important information to this peer network. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER
