NORTH WEST It is full steam ahead now for the Sharing Resources programme of sector development in the North West. This programme is primarily about building the capacity of community waste sector organisations to deal with business waste. Resource Saver North West has also been launched; it is aimed at finding community sector solutions to business waste resources. Recently appointed Resource Saver Manager Daniel Bell says "Brokering resource re-use on the front line between business and the community waste sector - it has to be an exciting prospect for the community waste sector and all the organisations CRN helps to promote." Visit the main Resource Saver website www.resourcesaver.org.uk which is in the process of undergoing change to incorporate Resource Saver NW. If you want further information in the meantime or have contacts you would like to share, do get in touch with Daniel daniel@crn.org.uk Tel: 0161 2238200/ Mobile 07743065698 The community sector are hosting an event for businesses on 10 April in conjunction with Envirolink NW. Called 'From Waste to Resource The Community Sector route for all your business and commercial waste', This will be a major meeting between north west businesses and community sector organisations, providing answers to their waste problems. At this stage it is necessary to cut back on the services organisations receive whilst this search continues. The CRN UK will be providing a peer exchange email address to allow SW CWN members to share information directly with other groups within the region. The Community Waste Network South West steering group will continue to meet and feed back important information to this peer network. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YORKSHIRE AND HUMBER Social landlords are also being involved in attempts by the Community Waste Network to establish a Building Material Reuse Centre. This would take a much more sustainable view of the resources generated from construction and demolition work in the region, re-using as much as possible on-site, to the benefit of local community organisations. The work is modelled on a national programme being rolled out by BioRegional, reported widely in our sectors news. Some promising cross-sector partnerships are already being formed, with research proposed construction & demolition processes in Yorkshire & the Humber. Do contact the regional team for more information. Contact:
