Compost in practice

A tour of London’s best composting sites took place on the 20th September.
London Community Recycling Network (CRN) and the Community Composting Network (CCN) got together to present a one-day tour of the city’s most successful compost sites. Presentations at each site look at issues such as funding, increasing capacity and relationships with local authorities.
The tour is a prelude to the CCN’s Annual Conference, which will focus on the European Union funded Growing with Compost programme as a solution to meeting UK landfill targets and the social and economic benefits it presents to local communities.
Nick McAllister from CCN said about the tour: “London has one of the highest concentrations of community composting activity in the country. The sites have been selected as demonstration sites for best practice so that others will be able to learn how to set up their own projects. As such, the tour is a suitably fitting launch to our Annual Conference."
