WRAP market reports launched In order to help the recycling industry plan for growth, a series of market situation reports are being launched, containing information about current economic conditions for recovered materials. The reports are commissioned by WRAP and aim to be an independent and authoritative source of market intelligence in a comprehensive format. Liz Dixon Smith, WRAP's economist, explained: "The recycling industry has access to a number of sources of materials prices and other data, but there is currently no single reference point for all the relevant information that the recycling and reprocessing industry needs to identify business opportunities and make sound investment decisions. "WRAP's market situation reports are designed to fill this knowledge gap by drawing together data from a number of different sources and providing balanced and independent analysis of economic trends, prices and the key challenges facing the industry over the longer term." The first report, focusing on glass, was launched in January and is available now. It considers how developments in the glass manufacturing sector, changes in collection trends and changes in the prices for cullet and packaging recovery notes (PRNs) have affected the market for recovered glass over the previous12 months. The second report, focusing on paper is scheduled to become available this spring and the third, on plastic is due in summer. Reports are available on WRAP's website, free to all industry participants at: www.wrap.org.uk/marketreports
