Nappy birthday

Nappy Ever After, a not-for-profit social enterprise based in Camden, is to celebrate its fourth birthday this month. Nappy Ever After promotes the benefits of real nappies to parents, offering a weekly cotton nappy collection and a washing and delivery service. It also has a shop located on Chalton Street in Somers Town, selling real nappies and offering advice to parents about home washing.

The project was established in March 2003 by local mum Hilary Vic, funded by a grant from the Big Lottery Fund's Community Recycling and Economic Development (CRED) Programme. Initially, Nappy Ever After was just one woman and her bike serving Camden parents only, but has now grown to serve the City of London, Hackney, Islington and Westminster.

Local nurseries are now using the services provided by Nappy Ever After. Hilary Vic commented: "We're really encouraged by the enthusiasm of nurseries - it's clear that there is a change in attitude taking place and nurseries are demonstrating to parents that real nappies are not hard work".
