Better services for SMEs
A new scheme has been launched to help more UK enterprises to provide recycling collection schemes.
The Funding Support Scheme, launched by WRAP, aims to provide better access to recycling services for enterprises that run collection schemes. In particular, the funding aims to develop recycling services for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) to enable them to run an efficient collection service.
The Funding Support Scheme is part of WRAP’s SME Recycling Programme, which involved trialling recycling schemes to determine what services would be most beneficial to SMEs. Funding of up to £67,000 is available to service providers, and is open to all recycling sectors. Applications can be for any aspect of service development, from marketing campaigns to extra recycling provisions for householders, but services that are successful will be required to match 50 per cent of the total project costs.
Liz Morrish, WRAP’s SME Recycling Programme Manager, said: “Research has shown that many SMEs currently find it difficult to access appropriate recycling services for the waste materials they generate and the result is that much of their waste goes to landfill. The Funding Support Scheme aims to encourage more recycling service providers to develop their services to meet the needs of SMEs, most of which are keen to recycle.”
