Low Carbon Building Programme enters phase two of grants scheme The DTI's Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) is accepting applications for phase two of its grants scheme. Phase two grants are available for the installation of microgeneration equipment in local authority housing, housing association properties, schools, and buildings owned by charitable organisations. Applicants may receive up to £1 million in grant funding for solar power, solar water heating, wind turbines, ground source heat pumps, wood pellet stoves and wood fuelled boilers. As well as the direct benefit of providing their own power, organisations can sell excess electricity produced by a number of technologies back to the national grid. Trade & Industry Secretary, Alistair Darling, said: "It is vital that we cut the C02 emissions from our buildings if we are to reach the UK's 60% reduction target by 2050. Combining energy efficiency measures with the fitting of microgeneration technologies on schools and other public sector buildings can and will make a real difference."
