Previously, Mr Mulgrew held the position of Consultant Director at Northern Ireland's Programme Delivery Support Unit, which is co-sponsored by the Department of the Environment and the Strategic Investment Board. He has also held positions with Dundee Council and the Shropshire Partnership.

Mr Mulgrew said: "At a time of unprecedented change, WRAP has underlined its commitment to Scotland by making this appointment. I look forward to working with the Scottish Government and other stakeholders to implement the National Waste Plan and to contributing to the wider climate change agenda."
