Lancashire recycling awards

The Lancashire Community Recycling Network (CRN) is looking for nominations in its 2008 Red Rose Recycling Awards. They are looking for organizations and individuals who "work tirelessly to promote community recycling and are passionate about waste minimization".

The awards will be held as part of the Lancashire CRN Annual Conference 2008, 'Waste - Let's Make It Our Business' on 1 May. It's a chance for participants to come together to share knowledge and ideas. There's also the chance to win £1,000 for your community waste organization.

The three categories for projects are: Best Community Enterprise; Best Voluntary Community Project; Best New Project. Individuals have the chance to be named Red Rose Recycling Champion 2008. The winning champion will receive a selection of recycled giftware and £250 for the community waste organization of their choice.

Lancashire CRN's Alison Hughes commented: "The awards are an opportunity for local people and businesses to showcase good practice and also fund new or developing waste-related projects."

For more information, visit www.lancswasteinfo.com (click on Red Rose Recycling Awards 2008) or call 01772 642885. Entries must be received no later than 21 April.
