Sustainable steel packaging
Corus has launched a new publication, entitled Sustainable Steel for Packaging, in order to promote steel as a sustainable packaging material.
The new brochure is designed to help its customers, including can makers, fillers, brand owners and retailers, to consider steel packaging because of its ability to be recycled again and again with no loss of quality and because it can be extracted easily and efficiently from the waste stream. The eight-page PDF file contains information on recycling, resource consumption, packaging design and optimisation.
Nicola Bennett, Sustainability Projects Manager at Corus, commented: “As the largest steel recycler in the UK and one of Europe’s leading packaging steel providers, we understand that sustainable performance is rapidly becoming a priority for our packaging chain customers and a prerequisite for doing business with retailers.
“The message that Corus and our customers are keen to communicate is that while steel may be over 100 years old, there are few packaging materials that can challenge its timeless sustainability credentials.”
