Website gives consumers advice on reducing packaging waste
Recyclenow.com, a website that provides information and advice on recycling, has developed a new section to inform consumers about packaging developments and explain how packaging is changing. The UK grocery sector is currently benefiting from reductions in packaging through lightweighting and the inclusion of recycled content and WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), the organisation that runs the website, feels the public should know about the changes.
Commenting on the launch of the new packaging design area of the website, Charlotte Henderson, Retail Supply Chain Programme Manager at WRAP, said: "It is really important that consumers are made aware of the environmental improvements that brand owners, retailers and their supply chain are making and that packaging also protects the product. Consumers can choose products which use less packaging and/or recycled content when they shop. By highlighting optimised packaging, WRAP is demonstrating the options that are available on shelf and showing that the retail sector continues to listen to consumers' concerns. "
