New Earth Solutions for Bristol
Bristol City Council has awarded a major waste contract to composting and resource recovery firm New Earth Solutions. The firm is being contracted to build an advanced composting facility that will process up to 30,000 tonnes per annum of the city's organic waste over a 20-year period.
New Earth Solutions has been processing kerbside food, green and cardboard waste on behalf of Bristol City Council for the past 18 months, initially being contracted on an interim basis to assist the council in understanding its ultimate processing requirements. The newly awarded contract will see New Earth Solutions develop a new facility close to Avonmouth that will provide a local recycling solution for Bristol residents' organic wastes. It is thought that the facility will take approximately nine months to build and will be fully operational by 2010.
Managing Director of New Earth Solutions, Peter Gillatt, commented: "We are delighted to be key in driving forward existing waste and recycling strategy within the region and assisting Bristol City Council in meeting their recycling and landfill diversion targets."
Councillor Mark Bradshaw added: "The new dedicated facility will be bespoke and designed to an exact specification based on a tried and tested methodology. It is ultimately ideal for the specific requirements of Bristol based residents."
