The Big Womble

The Furniture Re-use Network (FRN) has enlisted the help of TV’s much loved environmentalists, the Wombles.
Securing the rights to use the Womble name and imagery will help promote the FRN’s national re-use day. Commenting on behalf of the network, Chief Executive Paul Smith said: “We’re very excited about the big Womble because it kills two birds with one stone, because it will raise the national profile of the work this sector does as well as raising much needed funds.”
The planned programme of events includes a national raffle of celebrity household goods. These tickets will be sold by the FRN and its members, with proceeds shared between the network and the projects that sell tickets. The auction itself will take place on 29 October, the day of the Big Womble at Wimbledon College, which will be a ticket only event. In addition, re-use schemes aound the UK are invited to organise their own event on the same date.
