Lancashire is keen to reward the green
Lancashire Community Recycling Network is running an annual award ceremony to commend the people in the county who are promoting community recycling and waste minimisation. The Lancashire Community Recycling Network 2008 Red Rose Recycling Awards provide organisations and individuals the opportunity to share their knowledge and ideas with others (and possibly win £1,000 in the process).
The winners in the three categories for organisations (best community enterprise, best voluntary community project and best new project) will each receive £1,000 and the individual "Red Rose Recycling Champion" will receive a selection of recycled giftware and £250 for the organisation of his or her choice.
A spokesperson for the Lancashire CRN said: "The awards are a great opportunity for local people and businesses to showcase good practice and also fund new or developing waste related projects."
All not-for-profit organisations that run large or small waste minimisation campaigns, community re-use projects, recycling or compost schemes are eligible to submit a nomination and the awards will be presented at the Lancashire CRN Networking BBQ in Burnley on Thursday 11 September.
